Cumberland Vet to be Honored

July 2nd, 2015 by WCBC Radio

At 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6 U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) will present the Bronze Star Medal to former Army Specialist, Michael Parker, a Vietnam War veteran and Cumberland resident, in recognition of his meritorious service during his second tour in Vietnam. Following the ceremony, Senator Mikulski will speak about the importance of keeping America’s promises to take care of our veterans. The Bronze Star is the fourth highest military decoration for valor. Although Mr. Parker was officially awarded the Bronze Star in June of 1970, he never received the medal in an official ceremony. He has been a Maryland resident for more than 50 years, and has lived in Cumberland nearly all his life.
