UPDATE: Investigation into Tuesday night fire

The city fire marshal and state fire investigators continue to investigate the cause of Tuesday evening's fire that destroyed a vacant two-story apartment building at 3 Altamont Terrace.  No injuries were reported in the two-alarm blaze that drew 60 firefighters to the scene with the operation directed by the Cumberland FIre Department. The Cumberland Times News reports the fire destroyed the building, owned by Larry Warner, and said to be vacant but used for storage purposes. The loss was estimated at $150,000 to the building and $225,000 in contents, according to Deputy State Fire Marshal C. Witmer who investigated the incident along with Deputy Fire Marshal J. Ray. Cumberland Fire Lt. W. Shannon Adams, city fire marshal, is also investigating. The blaze was first reported by a passerby, according to the fire marshal's office Cumberland, Corriganville, Bedford Road, Ridgeley, Wiley Ford, Cresaptown, Bowling Green, Shaft, Midland, District 16 and Frostburg fire departments responded to the incident.
