Governor Larry Hogan today joined law enforcement officers, firefighters, family, and friends for the 31st Annual Fallen Heroes Day. Every year on the first Friday in May, a public memorial is held at the Fallen Heroes Memorial at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Baltimore County to remember those men and women who gave their lives in the line of duty. In addition, the governor issued a statewide proclamation announcing May 6 as “Fallen Heroes Day,” and ordered flags to be flown at half-staff.
Four police officers will be honored at this year’s event:
- Police Officer III Noah Leotta, Montgomery County Police Department
- Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey, Harford County Sheriff’s Office
- Deputy First Class Mark Logsdon, Harford County Sheriff’s Office
- Detective Jacai Colson, Prince George’s County Police Department
Prince George’s County firefighter and paramedic John Ulmschneider, who died in the line of duty in April 2016, will be recognized at this year’s ceremony, but will be officially honored at the 2017 ceremony.
