Hogan Announces First Four in Cabinet

Maryland Governor elect Larry Hogan announced the first four members of his Cabinet on Wednesday afternoon, including naming an appointments secretary and keeping on a member of the previous administration.  The group includes: James D. “Jim” Fielder, Jr. will serve as Hogan’s secretary of appointments — a position that the governor-elect once held during the administration of Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. (R);  C. Gail Bassette was named the secretary of the Department of General Services, which provides professional and technical services for the state government;  Sam J. Abed will continue as the secretary of Maryland’s Department of Juvenile Services, a position that he has held since 2011; and Del. Kelly M. Schulz (R-Frederick)  who was named secretary of labor, licensing and regulation.  While speculation as to Hogan’s Department of Natural Resources Secretary continues to focus on State Senator George Edwards, the veteran western Maryland lawmaker maintains he has not been formally contacted by anyone from Hogan’s staff…
