Keyser Man Arrested Following Stabbing Incident

July 1st, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports a Keyser man was jailed Tuesday night following a stabbing incident that left the victim with a minor laceration to the finger, according to the Keyser Police Department. Keyser Police responded to a residence on Loughs Terrace in the airport addition area of south Keyser at about 8:40 p.m., in response to a destruction of property complaint.

Upon arrival, officers encountered 54-year-old Keith Gerald Brisco, of Keyser, outside the residence.

Brisco then ran into the residence and was taken into custody following a brief struggle. Officers resorted to pepper spray to subdue Brisco and restrain him for transport to the Keyser Police headquarters.

During arrest processing, Brisco was charged with felony malicious wounding/unlawful assault. He was then taken to the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta to await arraignment by a Mineral County magistrate.

Police said the victim — a 38-year-old Keyser man — suffered a minor cut in the finger but apparently did not require medical treatment.

Police seized a kitchen knife at the scene that was believed to have been used in the incident.

Preliminary investigation indicated the accused slashed two tires of the victim’s motorcycle following an argument. The victim was injured when he assumed a defensive position against Brisco who was armed with the knife, police said.

The incident remains under investigation with additional charges pending against Brisco.
