Law Enforcement Officers Bill Of Rights A Critical Component Of Reform

In the wake of last month’s homicide of Freddie Gray in Baltimore, Maryland and the nation are grappling with how to restore trust that law enforcement officers will treat all the people they serve fairly and equally, and that the officers can be and will be held accountable when they do not. Maryland Senate President Mike Miller says one critical component of reform locally has to be reform of Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights.   Enacted in 1974, Miller calls Maryland’s LEOBR one of the most extreme such laws in the country…
