Police are investigating the death of a Virginia man whose body was found in a stolen vehicle in West Virginia.

Capt. Donnie Lang with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office identified the man as 34-year-old Michael Johnston Jr. of Stephens City.

Lang tells media outlets that police found Johnston dead in the vehicle on Tuesday afternoon in Berkeley County, West Virginia.

Lang says Johnston faced charges in Frederick County of strangulation, malicious wounding, grand larceny of a vehicle and a purse, and credit card theft.

Johnston was accused of assaulting a family member, taking her SUV and dragging her with the vehicle on Monday. The victim was treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Lang says a second suspect, 24-year-old Autumn Miller, was charged with purse and credit card theft.
