July 7th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Salem Children's Trust Inc. is partnering with Columbia Gas of Maryland and Crossroads Church to plan it's first ever Family Festival for July18th from 10 am to 6 pm to raise awareness of their efforts to help kids from Garrett County and throughout the state of Maryland.  The event will consist of a full day of activities geared to families of all ages.  The event will begin with a 1 mile fun run and walk. Prizes will be given for the most original costume, best group costume and top finishers.  After the race, a carnival will be held on their campus into the afternoon.  It will be complete with a corn roast picnic for the lunch hours and inflatables, pony rides, carnival games, demonstrations, music, raffles, and more.  Lastly, an ice cream social will round out the day while listening to good music and playing yard games. Salem is located just off of Lower New Germany Road and hosts 4 groups homes and Salem School.  As a non-profit organization, Salem relies on fundraisers, grants, and donations to create a home environment for kids and provide programs like our equestrian program and other holistic therapy services.  To learn more about the organization or the Family Festival, call 301-689-8176 x 208, visit www.mdsalem.org or find them on Facebook.
