Maryland’s Medical Cannabis Commissions Reports Receiving 811 Dispenser License Applications

Maryland's Medical Cannabis Commission reports nearly 1,100 applications for licenses for the state's medical marijuana program. According to figures released this week, the vast majority of the license applications, 811, were submitted for dispenser licenses. The commission says many dispenser license applicants submitted more than one application for different senatorial districts.  State regulations prohibit that. According to the commission's figures anywhere from seven to 30 applications were submitted in each senatorial district. The state will only award a maximum of two dispensary licenses per senatorial district, for a total of 94 statewide. Former State Senator John Pica, who represents one of the company’s that has applied for a license, says that Maryland learned from the mistakes of those states that were early to legalize the medical marijuana industry- saying that there was virtually no regulations in place for Colorado and California…
