Mineral and Allegany Counties Meet on Possible Carpendale/Bowling Green Bridge

August 3rd, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Representatives from Mineral County and the town of Carpendale met with the Allegany County Commissioners recently, seeking assistance in securing federal dollars from Maryland to go toward a proposed bridge spanning the Potomac River between Carpendale and Bowling Green. Mineral County Commissioner Richard Lechliter said the project would provide access to 300 acres of CSX property and allow for commercial property to be developed, which in turn could create jobs. He pointed to the potential expansion of the Kingsford Charcoal Company as an example. Above the economic benefits however, would be the improved access for fire, police and emergency units
