The Cumberland Times News reports Allegany County District Administrative Judge Edward Malloy Jr. ruled during a preliminary hearing Friday that there is enough probable cause to continue to charge Anthony Knowles, 35, of Shamokin, Pa., with seven counts in regards to a shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Decatur Street. On Dec. 17, Knowles allegedly fired several shots from a handgun at three males and missed.Original charges that Knowles is facing include three counts each of attempted second-degree murder and first- and second- degree assault; four counts of reckless endangerment and firearm possession with a felony conviction, along with other charges, according to court documents. Knowles has a few drug-related convictions from 1996 that prohibit him from owning a firearm, according to Detective Vincent Benson, with C3I.

Sean Gallagher, Knowles’ attorney, asked that his bond be lowered and Joshua Kelty, assistant state's attorney, requested that it remain the same due to the fact that it took months to find Knowles and he has a record in Pennsylvania. Knowles was returned to Maryland after Johnstown officers determined that he had an arrest warrant in Maryland. The officers questioned Knowles about the vehicle he was driving.

Malloy ruled that because of Knowles’ record and the potential for him to serve up to 100 years in prison that his bond would remain the same. The matter can be taken up at his next court appearance in circuit court. Bond was originally set at $2.5 million and was then lowered to $1.5 million during a subsequent bail review in district court.
