Allegany College of Maryland has released the following statement regarding an incident that occured on campus Monday afternon,
On Monday, May 2, 2016, at approximately 12:45pm, there was a report of an altercation on the Cumberland campus of Allegany College of Maryland. Law enforcement was contacted immediately and the situation was defused. The College is cooperating with local law enforcement in their investigation. The College also has internal procedures in compliance with federal law, state law, and institutional policy.
The College is committed to the health, safety, and wellbeing of our students, employees, guests, and community. The College’s Code of Student Conduct permits the immediate interim suspension of students whose actions compromise campus safety. The College has not and will never tolerate this type of behavior and acted swiftly to ensure the continued safety of our campus community.
At Allegany College of Maryland, providing a quality education and services in a safe and comfortable environment is a primary goal. The College values the professionalism of the Cumberland Police Department and other law enforcement agencies and will work with our trusted professionals throughout their investigation to ensure continued safety of the campus.
