On May 19, 2013 at 4:00 AM the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 100 block of West Second Street for the report of a burglary in progress. Officers arrived and were advised that the suspect had fled the scene prior to their arrival. The victims stated that the suspect had thrown something through the front window of the residence. He then forced his way through a door and assaulted several people inside of the residence. Officers were then able to locate the suspect; Jason Robert Edwards age 30 of Cumberland, nearby on West First Street. Edwards was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Burglary 4th Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property less than $500, and three counts of Assault 2nd Degree. Edwards was taken to Cumberland Police Department for processing and is awaiting an initial appearance at Allegany County District Court.
