City man facing assault charges

Arrest Warrant Served

On Tuesday, October 21, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department arrested Christopher Douglas Balderson on an arrest warrant.  The Warrant stems from an assault which took place on September 19, 2014 at an establishment located in the 200 block of Virginia Avenue.  On that date officers responded to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center and made contact with two victims.  The first victim stated that he was approached by Balderson from behind and Balderson struck him several times with a closed fist knocking him to the ground.  The second victim stepped in to stop the assault and then Balderson sliced the second victims arm with a pocket knife.  The second victim was then rushed to WMRMC for treatment of his injuries.  The first victim did not require medical treatment. 

Balderson was served with the warrant and taken to District Court for his initial appearance.  Balderson posted $35,000.00 bond and was released pending his trial.

Christopher Douglas balderson – age 32 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Two counts of second degree assault and one count of first degree assault.

 

Arrest Warrant Served

On Tuesday, October 21, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Grant Lee Robert, age 31, Cumberland, MD.  The warrant charges Lee with two counts of theft, burglary second degree and burglary fourth degree.  Lee was taken to District Court for his initial appearance and was released on his personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

 

Violation of a Peace Order

On Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department arrested James Raymond Harry Searles, age 20, Cumberland, MD.  Searles was issued the court order approximately one hour earlier on this date but failed to comply and contacted the female victim who obtained the order.  The order instructs Searles not to have any contact with the victim.  Searles failed to comply and contacted the victim which was observed by a Cumberland police Officer.  Searles was placed under arrest and charged with one count of violating the peace order.  Searles was later taken to District court for his initial appearance and was released on his personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

 

Bench Warrant Served

On Wednesday, October 22, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department arrested Crystal Dawn Frame, age 31, Cumberland, MD on a bench warrant.  The warrant stems from Frame failing to appear for court on 10/16/2014.  Frame was served with the warrant then taken to District Court and she was released on her personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.
