Restoration Of Highway User Funding A Top Concern

Without exception, the number one concern presented by local elected officials to Maryland’s Budget Secretary during his visit last week was the need to restore highway user funding.  An effort to return highway user funds to counties and municipalities failed in the 2015 General Assembly session. Cuts in those funds over the past few years have costs counties and cities millions of dollars for highway maintenance and other road projects. Secretary David Brinkley said he is aware of the importance of those funds for small towns and counties. The request is coming from municipalities and counties across the state…
