Road Repair Project Causing Travel Problems

When two major road repair projects are taking place at the same time in the same general area- it can cause quite a traffic cluster during peak driving hours- and that is what is creating some travel problems in downtown Cumberland. Motorists noticed last month that left lane closures on eastbound and westbound Interstate 68 between Exits 43A and 43B will cause some delays.  That work is part of a $14 million, two-year bridge rehabilitation project in Allegany County. Meanwhile Baltimore Avenue has been changed to one way in the eastbound direction from downtown to Willowbrook Road until project completion. Decatur Street traffic will not be permitted to make a right turn onto Baltimore Avenue. Charles Gishler, a spokesman for the State Highway Administration, tells WCBC News that unfortunately the only thing the department can say to drivers at this point is to be patient…
