School Board Candidates Weigh in on Consolidation

As has been the case in local school board elections for decades now- the always controversial issue of school consolidation has been a subject discussed on the campaign trail.  During this week’s Allegany County Board of Education candidates forum sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and WCBC Radio- the six running for a seat on the board were asked about utilization of facilities, and whether they feel there may be a need for future consolidation.  With a new school expected to be completed by the fall of 2017- School Board President Laurie Marchini says the board will have options to weigh- and a plan has been developed:

Candidate Lorelee Farrell didn’t offer any specifics, saying only that whatever plan is developed has to first and foremost implemented with  best interests of the students as the top priority…
