As the staff at the Allegany County Board of Education works toward finding a more affordable plan for a new Allegany High School- there are still some in the community who feel whatever the price may end up, the money would be more wisely spent on a new consolidated high school to accommodate Allegany and Fort Hill students. The county commissioners are already on record as opposing that concept, while members of the school board also have remained focused on a new Allegany, not a consolidated school. Dr David Lever, executive director of the Interagency Committee on School Construction, tells WCBC News that the idea was discussed early on in the process – but it was made apparent that there was little interest on the local level of moving in that direction…
