State Adds 2,000 Jobs

State officials say Maryland added 2,300 jobs in March, 1,800 in the private sector.

The unemployment rate in Maryland is now at 5.6-percent, the lowest since November, 2008.

The O'Malley Administration also announced the Bureau of Labor Statistics revised the February unemployment rate for Maryland downward from 5.7 to 5.6-percent.

In a news release, Governor Martin O'Malley noted that the state has added 10,900 private sector jobs over the last twelve months, meaning that eight out of ten jobs created was in the private sector.
