WCBC Starts 40th Year

April 19th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

On April 19th, 1976, The Cumberland Broadcasting Company acquired its first radio asset, 1270 AM.  Prior to the acquisition, the station was known as WUOK, and prior to that WKYR, a Keyser based station that moved to Cumberland a few years prior.

WCBC instantly became known for local news and community involvement.  David Norman Aydelotte (pictured) and Manning Kimmel were the duo that were stockholders in the original corporation,  Local broadcast stalwarts Jim Robey, Doc Webster and Bob Hidey were all part of the airstaff.
