Local stakeholders are looking at ways to improve retention and recruitment in the area as part of the West Virginia University Extension Service's First Impressions program, according to Melanie Winfield, a performance improvement coordinator at WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital. The extension service has received a $10,000 grant toward the project and its first meeting was held Oct. 28. A group of people that had never been to Keyser discussed their first impressions during a meeting with stakeholders, which was followed by a community meeting. A stakeholder First Impressions meeting will be held Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Keyser Presbyterian Church and will be followed by a 6 p.m. community meeting.
