Barton man killed in vehicle incident. |
A Barton man was killed early Tuesday when the vehicle he was driving rear-ended a street sweeper on Cabin Run Road west of Route 36 in Shaft.
46 year-old David A. Smith was driving an F-150 1979 Ford Truck at 9:21 am when he struck the rear of the street sweeper. Smith was pronounced dead at Cumberland’s Memorial Hospital, while two passengers, 43 year-old Naomi Smith and a 17 year-old male juvenile were also treated for injuries. The driver of the street sweeper, 56 year-old Melvin Gibbs of Lonaconing was not injured. The collision remains under investigation by Maryland State Police.
