A heavy down pour did not dampen the spirits and enthusiasm of the crowds the lined the streets in downtown Cumberland Friday morning for the America 9-11 Ride.
More than 800 motorcycle riders and their passengers rode through Cumberland this morning to once again pay tribute to
those who parished in the 9-11 attacks. Organized less than two months after
the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, America’s 911 Ride is continueing to
grow.WCBC provided live
coverage from the event both downtown and at Allegany College. The ride raises
funds for a scholarship program dedicated to the children of EMS personnel,
firefighters and police officers, and the foundation assists emergency services
organizations with funds, materials, equipment and volunteers.. The riders are
on a long trip,leaving the crash site
of Flight 93 Shanksville, Pa., on Friday morning on their way to the
Pentagon and the Twin Towers inNew York City.
