It’s a funding issue that the Allegany County Board of Education really doesn’t mind.
The board was informed last week that because of the growing interest in advanced placement courses among area high school students- there is a need to purchase additional books. The director of secondary education Karen Bundy told the board that more than 1,000 students have signed up for AP courses in the fall, up about 12 percent from this year. The board agreed to spend an additional $50,000 on AP science, social studies and psychology texts so that supply will meet demand.
