16 Positions To Be Eliminated In School System

When the Allegany County Board of Education adopts its FY 2016 budget Tuesday night, it will lead to another year where some of the cuts are being felt directly in the classrooms. Superintendent David Cox, in presenting the revised budget to the board last week said that its likely that 16 positions will have to be eliminated. Those would be in addition to the 173 positions that have been eliminated through attrition in the past six years. Cox said that obviously with less personnel, the consequence is that there are higher class sizes. Staffing decisions are discussed on a regular basis, and Cox says its presents challenges for the system…
