Icy Roads Snarl Traffic In Garrett County

January 17th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Frozen precipitation played havoc with some travelers in the western mountains yesterday afternoon through the overnight period. In Garrett County, Maryland State Police has to shut down Interstate 68 for a couple of hours and put the Snow Emergency Plan in effect in mid afternoon.

State Police tell WCBC News that they needed to shut down Interstate 68 in the county in the middle part of Saturday afternoon.

Northern Rescue Squad and Firemen from Grantsville and Bittinger were called to the 14 mile marker for an accident that involved an ejection. Several other mishaps clogged the road at that same time.
