Bedford Street Struggle Involves Alleged Assault On Police

Early Saturday, at approximately 4:30 AM, an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department was on patrol in the area of Bedford Street near Mechanic Street when he observed a male subject lying partially in the roadway.

While the officer was speaking with the subject, he refused to identify himself and started making threatening statements toward the officer. As the officer was attempting to identify the subject, he walked off the sidewalk and approached the officer in an attempt to assault the officer. During a struggle with the subject, additional officers arrived and the subject was placed under arrest.

The subject was later identified as Pierre Antonio Juarez, 23, of Cumberland. Juarez was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing. Juarez was transported to the District Court Commissioners Office for a bond hearing. Juarez was released on his own personal recognizance.

 

Arrested: Pierre Antonio Juarez Age: 23 of Cumberland, MD

Charges: Assault on Police 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct.
