September 17th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

After a six-month, nationwide search for a new president and CEO, Catholic Relief Services has chosen one of its own. Sean Callahan, a 28-year veteran of the Baltimore-based international humanitarian organization, is to take the job on Jan. 1, officials announced Friday. He is to succeed Carolyn W. Yoo, the former business school dean who has headed the organization for five years. Catholic Relief Services, the global humanitarian arm of the Catholic community in the United States, serves 107 million people in 101 countries around the world. Its operating expenditures are to reach almost $900 million in fiscal year 2016, the largest outlay in its history.
