44th Annual Mountain Maryland PACE Reception Approaching

It’s less than a month until the 44th annual Mountain Maryland PACE event in Annapolis where once again local elected officials as well as business and community leaders will showcase the region- while at the same time lobbying lawmakers and administration officials on behalf of Allegany and Garrett counties. Topping the agenda this year will be a focus on the need for expanded broadband.  Officially titled the Mountain Maryland Pace Reception and Breakfast, the event includes a social Thursday evening January 23rd from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and a breakfast the next morning from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Both events will take place at the Graduate Annapolis hotel and both will once again be broadcast live by WCBC Radio.  While there is much focus on the reception and breakfast, local officials are actually in Annapolis earlier in the week for a series of meetings with state agency heads seeking to secure funding for local projects. Paul Kahl, public works director of Allegany County, said the county has been tremendously successful in obtaining state grants for dozens and dozens of water and sewer infrastructure projects in recent years…
