On March 20, 2018, Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Edward Beeman following an investigation into a report that Beeman was holding a Female Victim against her will at gunpoint in his residence. The Victim was rescued and transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment of significant physical trauma. The Victim is expected to recovery from her physical injuries.
Follow-up investigation by Deputies revealed that John Beeman had an accessory in the crime. Deputies determined that Misty Shay Vinci had assisted Beeman. An Arrest Warrant was obtained through the District Court for Misty Shay Vinci. On March 21, 2018 Deputies received a tip that Misty Shay Vinci was at a residence in Barton, Maryland. Deputies assisted by the Maryland State Police responded to the residence where Vinci was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect, 39 year-old Misty Shay Vinci of Barton was charged with the following:
Attempted 1st Degree Murder
Attempted 2nd Degree Murder
1st Degree Assault
2nd Degree Assault
Firearm Use in Felony/Violent Crime
Wear and Carry Deadly Weapon
False Imprisonment
Obstructing & Hindering
Firearm-Possession with Felony Conviction
Rifle-Possession with Felony Conviction
Rifle/Shotgun-Possession with Felony Conviction
Illegal Possession of Ammo
Members of C3I are assisting Deputies with the investigation. Additional Charges are pending in Garrett County, Maryland where additional crimes occurred related to this incident.
