April 22nd, 2018 by WCBC Radio

On Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 1:52 a.m., a Frostburg City Police officer initiated a traffic stop on Center Street after observing the vehicle traveling the wrong direction on the one-way street. The officer further observed a registration plate violation.

As the officer approached the vehicle, multiple passengers were found inside. Upon contacting the driver, identified as Batricia Lynn Nave, 34, of Cumberland, the officer detected an odor of alcoholic beverages. The officer administered field sobriety tests and found Nave to be impaired. Nave was placed under arrest and charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way street, failure to obey traffic control device, failure to attach plates at front and rear, and DWI/DUI offenses. Nave was issued traffic citations and released pending trial.

During this stop, a passenger identified as Leighann Marie Carroll, 24, of Frostburg, became unruly. Carroll began yelling and screaming at police at the scene of the stop. Police ordered Carroll several times to stop yelling; however, she continued yelling and interfering with the process. As a result of Carroll’s failure to stop yelling, a crowd of bystanders began assembling and taking note of the incident. Carroll was placed under arrest and charged with failure to obey a lawful order and disorderly conduct. Carroll was charged by criminal citation and released pending trial.

Both subjects were unruly during the stop. They were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where their citations were prepared and arrangements made for their release. Frostburg City Police officers were assisted by Frostburg State University Police.
