Baltimore Man Given 12 Years On Local Drug Conviction

The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, Michael O. Twigg, State’s Attorney, along with the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, announced on Wednesday, Devonte Tavon Jones, Baltimore, Maryland was found guilty by an Allegany County Jury of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of fentanyl and possession of cocaine, in the Circuit Court for Allegany County.

After the guilty verdict, the Honorable Jeffrey S. Getty, Circuit Court Judge for Allegany County, merged the possession of fentanyl and possession of cocaine with the two felony charges for the purposes of sentencing.  For both the possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, Jones was sentenced to 12 years to Maryland Division of Correction with 6 years suspended to run consecutive with each other, for a total of 12 years actual incarceration.  

The case was the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, into the distribution and sales of fentanyl and cocaine in the Allegany County area.

The state was represented by Assistant State’s Attorney Samuel J. Lane. The defendant was represented by Sean P. Gallagher, Esq.
