67 New COVID Cases, 1 Additional Death in Allegany County

November 17th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Health Department still has a number of appointments open for Moderna COVID booster vaccinations for next Wednesday, November 24 at the Allegany County Fairgrounds.  Eligibility requirements and a link to register can be found at health.maryland.gov/allegany.

“The majority of vaccinated county residents initially received the Moderna two-dose series, and so the demand for Moderna boosters is high,” explained health department Public Information Coordinator Brenda Caldwell.  “That is the reason we are requiring a scheduled appointment for the Moderna booster at our clinics – to manage the volume of patients coming through the clinic to help ensure prompt service for every patient we see.”

The health department also offers other vaccine doses on a walk-in basis at the fairgrounds each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  No appointment is needed to receive a first, second, or booster dose of Pfizer vaccine (ages 12 or older) or a first or second dose of Moderna (18 and older).

Drive-thru COVID testing continues to be offered at the fairgrounds on Mondays from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
