71 New COVID-19 Cases in Allegany County, 1 Additional Death

The Allegany County Health Department reports that the COVID-19 case rate is now 53.36 cases per 100,000 population.  The case rate has declined from a peak of 81.56 early last week, however the county rate remains well above the Maryland rate (20.67 per 100,000 population). 

As of September 30, 44.7% of Allegany County residents were fully vaccinated against COVID-19, compared to 64.4% of all Marylanders. 

COVID-19 vaccinations are available at local pharmacies, urgent care clinics, pediatric offices, and some primary care providers.  The Allegany County Health Department offers COVID-19 vaccinations on Wednesdays at 12501 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland. From 9 a.m. to 12 noon, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are provided for individuals 18 and older.  From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Pfizer vaccines are available for those 12 and older.  All individuals under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to be vaccinated. 

Drive-thru COVID testing is offered at the Allegany County Fairgrounds, 11400 Moss Avenue, Cumberland on Mondays from
2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  No appointment is needed, but pre-registration is strongly encouraged to minimize wait times at the clinic.  You can pre-register for testing by going to and clicking on the pre-registration link under “COVID-19 Information” on the right side of the page.
