9/11 Ride

America's 911 Ride once again came through Cumberland as one leg of the annual ride. This year's ride was limited to 600 motorcycles, although there were other first-responder vehicles and maintenance support vehicles.  The left Highland Harley-Davidson in Somerset, Pennsylvania, at 6:45 a.m.  Riders are scheduled to arrive in the city at 8:30 a.m. after traveling state Route 36 to the Narrows and south on Mechanic Street before turning onto eastbound Interstate 68, according to the Cumberland Police Department.  Traffic was stopped temporarily on the main route and all intersecting routes through the downtown area to prevent other traffic from impeding with the riders. The riders moved through downtown Cumberland between 8:30 and 9 before moving on for a rest stop  at Allegany College of Maryland. Color guards from the Vietnam Veterans of America, Marine Corps League, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars were at ACM to greet them. The America's 911 Foundation was formed in 2003 to raise funds for a scholarship program dedicated to children of EMS personnel, firefighters and police officers and to help emergency services organization with funds, materials, equipment and volunteers.

    Another traffic hassle for us hard working AMERICANS to put up with so these obese, ‘disabled’ welfare bums can show off their phony ‘patriotism’. Must be nice to ride your bikes all day while us real Americans HAVE to go to work to support you a-hole, lazy, bigots.
