A third of Allegany Count Population now fully Vaccinated against COVID

The Allegany County Health Department has released the latest COVID-19 news.

Four walk-in COVID vaccination clinics are scheduled at local fire departments:

 

  • Oldtown Volunteer Fire Company:  Tuesday, May 25
  • Flintstone Volunteer Fire Company:  Thursday, May 27
  • Lonaconing Good Will Fire Company Armory:  Tuesday, June 1
  • Mt. Savage Fire Company:  Thursday, June 3

 

At all four clinics, single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine will be provided.  Also, individuals can receive their second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. 

 

Hours for all of four clinics are 9 a.m. to noon.  No appointment needed.  Please bring your vaccination card if you are receiving a second dose of Moderna vaccine. 

 

In Allegany County, 24,188 residents have received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine against COVID-19 (34.4% of the population), with 20,812 of those individuals now fully vaccinated with their second dose (29.6% of the population).  The number of residents who have received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine is 2,474 (3.5%).

 

By comparison, the state reported that 51.2% of all Marylanders had received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine, with 41.2% having had both doses and 3.7% vaccinated with the single-dose vaccine.

 

Allegany County COVID-19 Case Statistics as of May 20:

 

  • New COVID Cases:  5 (cumulative total 6,963)
  • Additional Deaths: 0  (cumulative total 208)
  • Cases Per 100,000 Population:  8.52 (Maryland: 5.36)
  • Positivity Rate:  3.18% (Maryland: 2.07%)
