Access Road Improvements To Be Made In Mechanic Street Area

Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim announced this week that significant funding has been secured by the city to go toward access road improvements in the Mechanic Street area. Late last year City Engineer John Difonzo described the planned improvements, saying that Mechanic Street would be paved from Harrison up past Bedford Street, with the hope being to be able to include Baltimore Street to the scenic (railroad) tracks and Bedford Street in the paving project.  Grim said the money comes by way of a $640,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes said the project was slightly delayed, and that means actual construction won’t occur this year…
