VACCINE MILESTONE: Maryland Administers Over 8 Million COVID-19 Vaccines

October 5th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the State of Maryland has surpassed the milestone of administering more than 8 million COVID-19 vaccines.

To date, Maryland has reported 8,007,738 vaccinations, including 119,899 booster doses.

  • 96.5% of Marylanders 65 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
  • 84.1% of Marylanders 18 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
  • 83.1% of Marylanders 12 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

State health officials have spent the last several months building the infrastructure for a statewide operation for administering booster shots, and Maryland became one of the first states in the nation to authorize boosters for seniors and high-risk individuals.

Additionally, the state has launched outreach efforts to Marylanders who are currently eligible to receive booster shots. The statewide call center began directly contacting all eligible Marylanders last week, and has scheduled more than 58,000 appointments for booster shots.

Marylanders who received their second Pfizer dose at least six months ago should strongly consider getting a booster shot.
