Additional Information on Home Invasions

Early Tuesday morning, 11/06/2012, at approximately 6:30 AM, the Cumberland Police responded to a private residence on Louisiana Ave in Cumberland for a reported Home Invasion. When Officers arrived they were advised the elderly female victim was confronted by the suspect after the suspect kicked in the rear door to the residence. The suspect pulled a knife on the victim and demanded money. The victim punched the suspect in the chest and the victim was cut by the suspect. The suspect grabbed medication from the residence and fled the scene.

Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. The scene was processed for evidence by Crime Scene Technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division.

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5-11 to 6-01 in height, medium build, wearing a dark colored trench coat, light colored hat with a dark colored hood over the hat and a dark colored bandana over the lower part of his face.

A search of the area was conducted at that time, but the suspect was not located.

Two other Home Invasions were reported in the same area in the same time frame. The suspect confronted one of the occupants in one of the homes. The occupant yelled at the suspect and the suspect fled the residence. The suspect did not confront the other home owner.

Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call the Allegany/Mineral County Crime Solvers at 301-722-4300, where callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1500.00 for information leading to an arrest in the case.

The investigation is continuing by C3I and the Cumberland Police.
