The Mineral County Commission is set to decide Tuesday whether to approve the annexation of the 1500 block of the Airport Addition. The Cumberland Times News reports that during a public hearing in September a majority of residents voiced their concerns about the annexation. Charles Morton, who lives on Harley O. Staggers Drive, has a petition with more than 100 signatures in opposition to the annexation. During a homeowners association meeting, Liberty Street residents voted in favor of annexation and approached the city about it. The City Council voted unanimously to petition the county commission for a minor boundary adjustment of 91.58 acres that would extend from the Airport Addition to the base of the mountain and include an undeveloped street.
