July 24th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Board of Education will meet in closed session today to begin to review options for each stage of the state’s plan in preparation for opening schools August  26th  for students. At a press conference this week, the state superintendent announced that each Maryland local school system, in consultation with its health department, will determine how to open, and which groups of students and staff will be able to reenter buildings. All school systems must follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Allegany County School Board president Tammy Fraley said today’s meeting will be followed by a few weeks of gathering input to help in developing a plan that will be unveiled at the August 11th board meeting…

Anybody know why the helicopter has been flying from the CC mall over to Haystack every day for the last couple weeks?

Looks like a private helicopter. Not Trooper 5 that I can tell. It is picking things up on a tether hanging below it like maybe from some sort of staging area near the Walmart end. Today is the first day I haven’t seen or heard it for a couple weeks. I live near the mall on the other side of Winchester Rd.

            > I don’t know what you see on the tether but it might be a series of circular saws used to trim tree limbs along power lines. If it is it’s something to see.

I don’t understand why a plan hasn’t already been developed. So we still won’t know anything until 2 weeks before school starts??

There are a number of counties down state that have already said that there will be distance learning until January 22.
