Allegany BOE to Reevaluate Virtual Learning Next Week

With criticism of virtual, or remote learning, on the rise and pressure mounting from state education officials to return kids to the classroom, the Allegany County Board of Education is expected to determine the next course of action when it meets on Tuesday.  COVID-19 case numbers have been surging locally for several months, which prompted the school board, in December, to put off any learning program decisions until after the holidays.  It has been a rollercoaster locally with the school system beginning the year in an all virtual mode. In September, a gradual return to the classroom for younger students began and a hybrid model was put into place. The COVID spikes began in October however and that forced the return to all distance learning.
