December 4th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Health Department reports that a total of 88 Allegany County residents have died from COVID-19.  The current case rate in Allegany County is 155.6 cases per 100,000 population, well above the state of Maryland case rate of 35.25 cases per 100,000 population.

In the past, the Allegany County Health Department authenticated each case before reporting it out to the public.  The Health Department is now transitioning to reporting case numbers in line with the Maryland Department of Health COVID-19 Data Dashboard.  Today, the Allegany County COVID-19 cumulative case count stands at 3900.

Health officials urge the public to continue to follow public health guidelines to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community.  Avoid gatherings, practice social distancing, wear a face covering, wash your hands often, and follow all requirements for isolation and quarantine.  If you receive a call from “MD COVID” or the phone number 240-466-4488, please pick up.  This is a member of the Maryland contact tracing team trying to get ahold of you.
