The start of the New Year means the beginning of a new budget process as well. The Allegany County Commissioners, as has become the routine in recent year, are expected to hold a series of public budget work sessions- and will schedule a series of public hearings in March to receive funding request presentations from agencies and groups. Tourism will be handled differently this year with the launch of the “Tourism Reinvestment Grant Application” program- which will see various tourism groups actually compete for hotel/motel revenue as opposed to the county simply allocating dollars to the usual groups with little discussion.
