Allegany County Health Department Schedules Flu Clinic

The flu is here- and the Allegany County Health Department has scheduled a flu clinic for this week.  The first confirmed case of influenza was reported during the first week of 2012 at the State Laboratory marking the beginning of flu season. One influenza-associated hospitalization was also reported. The Allegany County Health Department (ACHD) is reminding area residents of the importance of practicing proper coughing and sneezing hygiene, washing hands thoroughly, and obtaining an annual flu vaccination. It is not unusual for flu season to peak in late winter or early spring. Health officials are encouraging unvaccinated residents to get their flu shots. The flu shot effectively prevents most cases of the flu and is recommended for anyone who wants to reduce the likelihood of influenza illness or prevent the spread of the flu to others…
