Allegany County Opportunity Scholarship Program Having Great Impact Says College Officials

 The Allegany County Opportunity Scholarship program, created by the Allegany County commissioners to lift more residents into higher education and workforce development, is having great impact according to college officials. Frostburg State University and Allegany College of Maryland has served hundreds of individuals through the program since it was launched in fall 2014.  The scholarships are funded by revenues to the county from the Rocky Gap Casino Resort, which opened in the previous year. FSU President Dr. Ronald Nowaczyk took time out last week to update the County Commissioners on the program’s success…

    So, a local professional writer misuses “says” where it should be “say” and “has” where it should be “have”. It seems we need to look at local elementary education rather than paying to have folks take remedial English courses at the local junior college and teacher’s college.

    Did I hear him say Garrett and Washington County students? The Commissioners said these funds are for Allegany County students only.
