Allegany County Public Schools Prepare to Administer PARCC

January 16th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Public Schools, along with all other school systems in Maryland, begins full implementation of the new Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) State assessments in reading and mathematics this school year. These new assessments replace the Maryland School Assessments (MSA) in English and mathematics in grades 3-8, and replace the High School Assessments (HSA) in Algebra I and English 10.

The PARCC states’ high quality assessments will allow parents and educators to see how students are progressing in school and whether they are on track for postsecondary success.  These assessments will also provide teachers with the ability to identify students who may be falling behind and need extra help.  PARCC will also provide professional development modules and educator-led training to support "peer-to-peer" training.
