Allegany County School Officials Budget Reduced

While an exact number won’t be know for a few months, Allegany County School officials now have a clearer picture of exactly what type of budget crunch they will be facing this year. According to a press release issued this week, local officials anticipate that the school system here will see a reduction of between $5.3 million to $6.5 million in state aid. In the current fiscal 2011 budget, state cuts amounted to about $2.6 million. Superintendent David Cox said that board hasn’t reached a point of having to furlough or layoff employees- there has been a steady reduction in personnel that is expected to continue
