Allegany County Sheriff’s deputy charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident

A press release issued by the Allegany County Sheriff's Department Tuesday morning reports that Deputy Andrew Mackert was involved in a vehicle accident causing property damage on Willowbrook Road- but he initially reported the incident as having struck a deer on Route 51. An investigation revealed that Mackert reported to police on September 2nd that he had been involved in an accident operating a department vehicle. Later that day the Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Western Maryland Health System who advised that on September 1st at approximately 11 pm there had been a minor accident with property damage involving a sheriff's department vehicle. Upon completion of the investigation Mackert was charged with DUI; hindering and obstructing; leaving the scene of an accident; and a myriad of other charges including providing false information to an officer. Mackert has been placed on administrative leave.

    i hope admin. leave is without pay.He is no better than anyone else.As a tax payer his pay should stop.
