According to data released last week, by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Allegany County’s November, 2013 monthly unemployment rate was 7.0%. This is the County’s lowest monthly unemployment rate in five years. For comparison, in November, 2008 it was 6.3% and the next month, December, 2008 it was 7.1%. Economic Development Director Matt Diaz briefly discussed the county’s employment situation during the regular business meeting of the county commissioners.
